Guns And Possum, Amigo

"I feel safe in Penn Branch because..."

When a Penn Brangler poll asked postors why they feel safe in Penn Branch, fifty-four percent said it was because it is "surrounded by well-kept, working-middle class neighborhoods", while forty-five percent expressed that the neighborhood's "strong police presence" gave them a feeling of security. Penn Branch's wholesome, small town charm did not go unappreciated in the poll; seventy-two percent said they felt safe, because "Branglers look out for each other", and two percent said it was because "nothing ever happens here". Right on both counts, you ask me, and God bless the folks (in uniform and out), who keep it that way!

For the record, ONE perecent of you admitted feeling safe, because you've "got a gun and...can fight". Only ONE percent?! I thought Branglers'd be a little more candid than that--not going to press the issue here, because I don't want any of you gun-toting, crackshot retirees on this hill mad at me.

Neither do you, stranger. Count on it ..and take the poll. [See right.]

Angry retirees and opossum are two things you don't want to mess with in Penn Branch--guns might be a third. If you feel strongly about that or are someone, like me, who grew up around guns and are pretty comfortable with having them around for the protection of your family, you may want to get ready for the Second Amendment National March, coming up in late April.

MARVEL'S HEDONISTIC, BOHEMIAN WONDER WOMAN...SERSI THE TERRIBLE!

By Edgar Miraculous Dyer (2021, October 22) 2nd Ed. Comixeurs know that  Marvel Comics  (even in the Timely days), the self-styled  House of Ideas,  has always mixed an element of  horror  into the iconic DNA of its most beloved heroes. From the Frankenstein-inspired elements in Captain America to the more obvious flashes of horror in the original Human Torch, the amazing Spider-Man, incredible Hulk, invincible Iron Man and uncanny X-Men - even the supernatural possession of Dr. Donald Blake, by the mighty, Viking sky god, Thor - this is and always  has been  Marvel's secret sauce. This is the  Marvel brand... And even the publisher's greatest  superheroines  would not escape it. One need look no further, than  Sersi the Terrible!  Half-naked in the apocalyptic green of Eden, Sersi is a cosmic sorceress and member of Marvel's  The Eternals  (now, titular stars of a proper, live-action superhero flick) - who reall...

DC MAYOR BOWSER PROMOTES $20M IN GRANTS TO PROP UP VACANT, OVERPRICED DOWNTOWN

From W-JLA Channel 7 News "...At a time when D.C.'s office vacancy rate has soared and many businesses have either left or are struggling – especially downtown...D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Acting Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development Nina Albert...emphasized that $19.6 million in grants are available...$3 million available in grants to help businesses that want to open or expand in commercial space that has been vacant for at least six months downtown..." A patron saint for Downtown Washington's bloat, gouging, sharky office space developers? (Shark-R Salas/M Bowser-AP/C Brehman/Photomanip-Capicostia) From the Capicostia Desk... 'Bail out' may be a more fitful accounting of Mayor Muriel Bowser's valiant campaign to revitalize a Downtown Washington, underwater with vacant, overpriced office buildings and retail spaces, not accruing valuable revenue for the DC Treasury - more fitful than 'prop up', I think. The loss of revenue, being ...
