ARMED CARJACKING, OUTSIDE THE CAPITOL HILL SAFEWAY

They'll be watching for SHOPPERS unloading groceries, idling cars...drivers inside. (BKV Group original photo)

By Edgar Miraculous Dyer

Morning of Friday 24th, 2023 - There was an ARMED carjacking, outside the Capitol Hill Safeway, on 14th and D Streets SE, Washington, DC. Two armed assailants carjacked a white, 2012 Ford Focus with DC tags around 12:30 a.m.

The following is taken from accountings of the crime, I have already posted to Twitter and other social media:

"...Assailants pretend 2B joggers or walkers to blend in with Capitol Hill locals. They might wear black, dark or otherwise nondescript sportswear. Expect to see them in a pair, walking together or close - one runner build, one stocky thick. They might wear ski masks, w eyes showing...They may NOT be walking closely together, but will probably be walking within sight of each other, to coordinate their actions - look for that...

THIS is crucial. They'll likely be looking, watching for SHOPPERS unloading groceries, idling cars with drivers inside or someone exiting/leaving a home, store, bank, ATM, bar or cafe/restaurant, heading for their auto. Please don't leave your elders, kids or pets in idling cars.

Some details about the stolen car? Custom orange and black stripe on sides, above black door handles. Headlights AND tail lights, both out on passenger side. Gas tank on passenger side. Scrape...on rear passenger side fender...

Officers and Detectives of the Sixth District MPD have been phenomenal in their support of our family, efforts to recover our car AND investigation of the crime. NIGHT STAFF of the Capitol Hill Safeway was the soul of compassion and comfort to our family, after the carjacking..."

For anyone who wants to know, my mother is the auto owner - an octogenarian and "...a senior, caring for a 49 year old, autistic daughter. She is very, very saddened by the loss of her car...but she's just as vigilant..." Night after night, we have been online, tracking down 'used 2012 white Ford Focus sales', ..until we're exhausted.

With the support of the DC Metropolitan Police Department and specifically detectives in the First District Police Precinct - Detective Grysko, Officer Maffett and others, now joined by Detective Douglas - the first responders on the carjacking, we are determined to find my mother's automobile, which has been such a vital part of her taking care of herself and my sister, a woman living with developmental disabilities.

Detective Douglas talked to us, for almost an hour. She listened to our family members recount the terrible details of this outrageous crime. She listened to us tell her and her agency who we were, and what the loss of our auto and our overall sense of public security and normalcy ..meant to us. This was just a phone call, but with what my eighty-two year old mother is going through, having worked so hard all of her life to purchase a life of dignity, civic calm and optimism...only to be blighted by THIS, as we sift thought the rubble of things - at that moment, ..it was the most important phone call we've ever had.

God bless the men and women of the First District Police Precinct.

That's all I can share, right now, ..as police investigations move forward.

Here in the Capitol Hill area, winter is slowly yielding to spring, and I am busier, than I have ever been in my adult life. In the proud Penn Branch tradition [I'm a proud Brancher.], ..this brush with bleakest adversity isn't stopping anything, over here.

Please don't leave kids or pets in idling cars. I don't care how springy it gets, out here. (BKV Group original photo)

And Capitol Hill is still a pretty swell place to be, I guess...

If you can find a parking space. Heh!

We, myself and my family, know ourselves to live in a GREAT nation and an indomitable city, ..Washington, DC - Seven Bee (Capicostia) being a truly inspired part of it.

Thank you, ALL of you - especially, the First District Police Precinct, the Capitol Hill Safeway Night Staff and independent journalist, Alan Henney, for his reporting on Twitter. Thank you all for your wishes for our well-being and kind offers of support. Wherever you are, if you're reading this, ..God comfort and go with you and yours.

MARVEL'S HEDONISTIC, BOHEMIAN WONDER WOMAN...SERSI THE TERRIBLE!

By Edgar Miraculous Dyer (2021, October 22) 2nd Ed. Comixeurs know that  Marvel Comics  (even in the Timely days), the self-styled  House of Ideas,  has always mixed an element of  horror  into the iconic DNA of its most beloved heroes. From the Frankenstein-inspired elements in Captain America to the more obvious flashes of horror in the original Human Torch, the amazing Spider-Man, incredible Hulk, invincible Iron Man and uncanny X-Men - even the supernatural possession of Dr. Donald Blake, by the mighty, Viking sky god, Thor - this is and always  has been  Marvel's secret sauce. This is the  Marvel brand... And even the publisher's greatest  superheroines  would not escape it. One need look no further, than  Sersi the Terrible!  Half-naked in the apocalyptic green of Eden, Sersi is a cosmic sorceress and member of Marvel's  The Eternals  (now, titular stars of a proper, live-action superhero flick) - who really is and always  has been .. DC MAYOR BOWSER PROMOTES $20M IN GRANTS TO PROP UP VACANT, OVERPRICED DOWNTOWN

From W-JLA Channel 7 News "...At a time when D.C.'s office vacancy rate has soared and many businesses have either left or are struggling – especially downtown...D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Acting Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development Nina Albert...emphasized that $19.6 million in grants are available...$3 million available in grants to help businesses that want to open or expand in commercial space that has been vacant for at least six months downtown..." A patron saint for Downtown Washington's bloat, gouging, sharky office space developers? (Shark-R Salas/M Bowser-AP/C Brehman/Photomanip-Capicostia) From the Capicostia Desk... 'Bail out' may be a more fitful accounting of Mayor Muriel Bowser's valiant campaign to revitalize a Downtown Washington, underwater with vacant, overpriced office buildings and retail spaces, not accruing valuable revenue for the DC Treasury - more fitful than 'prop up', I think. The loss of revenue, being

D.C. Urban Legends: The Big Bird Witch Of Penn Branch

By Mel Dyer Yes! Penn Branch has an urban legend. That of the Big Bird Witch  or Hawk-woman, who haunts our wild, emerald hills... If you're over 35 and grew up in the Southeast D.C. neighborhood, Penn Branch, in the mid-1960s, ..you've probably seen or heard of this creature, at one time in your life. You probably thought you were imagining things ..or that it was just crazy-talk. You may have even heard that it had a woman's head and white, bulging eyes, ..or that it was a witch. While I don't believe that part, I've seen the creature that might have inspired this urban legend, with my own disbelieving eyes, ..perched menacingly on a rooftop, at Carpenter Street and Highwood Drive! ...One neighbor recently told me that this thing, ..which she described as a witch in black feathers, with a chalk-white face and large, staring eyes, ..glided over a backyard family gathering, back in the mid-70s, and scared the hell out of their guests! An electrician, who no
